A portion of Route 1 in Walpole, Massachusetts, was temporarily shut down on Monday afternoon due to a tractor trailer crash involving a pedestrian.
The crash happened around 5 p.m. on the southbound side of the roadway, just south of Coney Street.
Motorists were told to avoid the area while the scene was cleared.
The 30-year-old woman who was struck by the truck was taken to Boston Medical Center by medical helicopter with serious injuries. Her name has not been released.
Route 1 was reopened about an hour later.
The exact cause of the crash is under investigation.
