Woman Dies After Being Hit by Vehicle in Front of Hospital

A woman has died after being struck by a vehicle in Norwood, Massachusetts on Wednesday morning.

The incident happened just before noon at the corner of Washington and Bond streets in front of Norwood Hospital. The area was closed for several hours before it was reopened to traffic.

The driver of the vehicle that hit the pedestrian did stop at the scene, and is cooperating with authorities.

"We haven't seen signs of anything in particular right now, but we always look to see if there's impairment or any kind of distraction, what there may have been on the roadway, in the vehicle," Norwood Police Chief William Brooks said.

So far, the victim has only been identified as an older Norwood woman who was in the area visiting a patient. Her family has not yet been notified.

In addition to the Norwood Police Department, the Norfolk County DA's Office and Massachusetts State Police Colision Analysis and Reconstruction Section are working the case.
