A person walking in Dedham, Massachusetts, was fatally hit by a vehicle Monday, local police said.
The crash was reported to Dedham Central Dispatch around 5:30 p.m. in the area of 204 Bridge Street, and subsequently resulted in the closure of Bridge Street at Commonwealth Avenue in the Boston suburb.
Police said responding officers found a female in the roadway, and she was declared dead on scene.

The driver of the vehicle that struck the person was also on scene when police arrived.
No further information was immediately available. The victim’s name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
This incident remains under investigation by Dedham police, the Norfolk County District Attorney’s Office and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
