Burlington Woman Killed in Crash on I-95 in Boxford

A Burlington woman is dead after a crash Friday night on Interstate 95 in Boxford, Massachusetts.

State police confirm the crash took place a mile north of Exit 52 on I-95 southbound at about 10:15 p.m.

Police said the preliminary investigation indicates that a 35-year-old Georgetown man was driving his 2017 Honda Ridgeline pickup truck northbound on Route 95 when his vehicle traveled across the median into the southbound lane. It struck a 2006 Toyota Sienna, driven by a 55-year-old Barbara O'Connell of Burlington.

Police said O'Connell was pronounced dead at the scene. The Georgetown man, who has not been identified, was taken to Beverly Hospital and then later flown by medical helicopter to a Boston hospital for treatment of serious injuries, according to state police.

Police said they are investigating why the man's pickup truck veered across the median.

The crash is under investigation. No charges have been filed against the driver. State police were assisted at the scene by Boxford fire and police, along with Georgetown police and the MassDOT.
