Person Dies After Being Pulled From Water in Swansea, Police Say

The victim had been at Swansea Town Beach with a friend when he became distressed

A person who was pulled from the water in Swansea, Massachusetts, has died, police say.

The Swansea Police Department responded to a 911 call for a report of a person in distress in the water at the town beach around 6:15 p.m. Sunday.

Responding officers discovered the male had been pulled from the water and bystanders were starting CPR.

The victim had been at the beach with a friend, who called for help after noticing his friend was in trouble.

Bystanders assisted the victim's friend in pulling him from the water.

Officers continued CPR and paramedics performed advanced life support measures as the victim was transported by ambulance to Charlton Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Authorities are not releasing the victim's identity pending family notification.

The incident remains under investigation by Swansea and State Police.
