Plans Fall Through for STK Rebel to Open in Boston; Original STK Concept May Open Instead

Early this year, we reported that a small New York-based group of "female-friendly" steakhouses was planning to come to the Boston waterfront, but now we have learned that this will not be happening after all.

Eater Boston mentions (via Eater Austin) that the STK Rebel concept has been ditched by the hospitality company The One Group, with the plan now apparently being to open the original STK concept in the cities where STK Rebel was supposed to open. As mentioned here earlier, a location of the Rebel concept was being planned for One Seaport Square in Boston's Seaport District, with One Group Hospitality CEO and founder Jonathan Segal saying of the concept, "We went into this with the sole intention to create a different steakhouse that appealed to the female market....If you want to make a lot of money in this world, focus on the female market and women, because men only get to make 3 percent of the decisions."

The original STK concept is what the restaurant describes as a modern steakhouse that offers the "superior quality" of a traditional steakhouse, according to its website.

Eater Boston has not completely confirmed that STK will be coming to Boston, but it says that Boston is still shown within the restaurant's location list, and there have been some recent job postings for the place as well.
