Police: Armed Man Violates Restraining Order, Flees Into Woods

A man violated a restraining order, threatened to harm himself and fled into the woods of Spencer, Massachusetts, Sunday afternoon, according to police.

Spencer Police responded to Paxton Road after a report that 38-year-old Steven Patchen had violated a domestic restraining order. They say he ran into the woods with a long gun.

Patchen, whose last known address is in Warren, has an active warrant for violating the same restraining order, according to police.

State police troopers from the barracks in Holden, Brookfield and Sturbridge assisted in the search, as did the Air Wing and K-9 units, but Patchen could not be found, and the search was called off around 9:15 p.m.

Police do not believe Patchen to be a danger to anyone but himself.

Anyone with information is asked to call Spencer Police at (508) 885-6333.
