Murder Investigation Underway After Body Found in Holden

A passerby found the body of a Hispanic male near a wooded area

Police are investigating a murder after a body was discovered overnight in the area of Reservoir Street in Holden, Massachusetts, according to Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr.

The DA's Office said a passerby found the body of a Hispanic male near a wooded area along the rural road that connects Worcester and Holden.

A law enforcement source reported the victim as a man in his 20s who was found with gunshot wounds.

People who live in the area were surprised to hear about the discovery of a body.

“I’m shocked. I live on Reservoir Street. I certainly didn’t hear anything and it’s just, the way the world is today, it’s so sad that this is happening all the time,” one woman said.

“I’m shocked. Honestly, I don’t think anything like that would have happened in Holden because I lived here my whole life,” Jeffrey Ordung said.

“The last time we had a problem like that, I want to say, may have been 20-25 years ago,” Ted Appleby said.

Police have not released any information on a suspect, but investigators are seeking the public's help with finding any leads.
