The bicyclist hit and killed by a dump truck in Cambridge on Friday morning was a Boston University student.
The school said Friday afternoon that 24-year-old graduate student Meng Jin was killed in the collision.
"Our thoughts are with his family and friends," Boston University said on Twitter.
The crash happened around 8:15 a.m. on Monsignor O'Brien Highway near the Museum of Science, and Jin was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The driver of the dump truck has been identified as a 50-year-old man from Leicester. His name will not be released unless an investigation into the deadly crash recommends that charges should be filed, according to state police.
Investigators said their preliminary investigation has shown that both the bicyclist and the dump truck were trying to make a right turn onto Museum Way from O'Brien Highway when the bicyclist, who was on the right side of the dump truck, was hit by a tire of the truck.
"There was a large truck in front of it, like a dump truck or something like that, and there was a group of five or six people, and they were definitely calling 911," said Brian Bell, who witnessed the aftermath of the crash.

Some pedestrians said they've seen many close calls in the area.
"It's a shame, and I've seen so many close calls, and I've almost been clipped numerous times," said pedestrian Elizabeth Craig-McCormick.
Several lanes on O'Brien Highway were closed during the response to the crash and the reconstruction of the scene, and all lanes were reopened to traffic by 11 a.m.
The crash remains under investigation.
