Police are searching for a suspect who stole a gavel from council chambers at Attleboro City Hall last month.
Security cameras captured a bearded man slipping into the room around 3:45 p.m. on May 25 before the gavel went missing from the council president’s desk.
The suspect was with a woman and seemed to be waiting for the woman to transact some business before he entered the council chambers, according to police.
There are no doors to the chambers, which are located right off the main corridor.
Anyone who knows either person in the video surveillance photos is asked to call Attleboro police at 508-222-1212.
