Police: Driver Under Influence of Drugs Crashes Into Tractor-Trailer Truck in Raynham

A Massachusetts man is facing charges after police say he crashed into a tractor-trailer truck while under the influence of drugs.

Raynham Police responded to the crash on Route 138, near the Raynham IcePlex, at 9:20 a.m. Tuesday.

Authorities said the driver of a black BMW, Ricky Dasilveira, 28, of Taunton, was charged with OUI drugs, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, and marked lanes violation.

Dasilveira was taken to Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton with injuries not believed to be life-threatening after he crashed into the tractor-trailer truck on the northbound side of the roadway. The truck driver was not injured.

Police said an initial investigation showed Dasilveira had been driving erratically when he crossed into the opposite lane of traffic and struck the driver's side of the truck.

As a result of the crash, fuel from the truck leaked out and took crews four hours to clean up.

Dasilveira will be issued a summons to appear in Taunton District Court for arraignment at a later date. It's unclear if he has an attorney.
