Report: Boston Has the Worst Traffic in the Country

Boston area traffic is as snarled as ever and one metric shows it's the worst in the country, according to the Boston Herald.

INRIX Global Ranking reports greater Boston commuters spend 14 percent of their drive time in bumper-to-bumper traffic, which is tops in the United States.

According to the report, New York City drivers spend 13 percent of their commute in traffic, while Los Angeles drivers spend 12 percent of their time in traffic jams.

“This isn’t just a Boston problem, this is an American problem,” said Mayor Marty Walsh.

City officials created the Boston 2030 plan to meet the demands of a growing population which they expect to exceed 700,000 in less than 12 years.

“I think pushing more people to public transportation is key,” Walsh said.
