Amazon has reportedly acquired Cambridge cybersecurity startup Sqrrl, making it the second Boston-area startup to get scooped up by the Seattle tech giant in as many months.
The Information reported that Sqrrl has been acquired by Amazon Web Services, the cloud infrastructure subsidiary of Amazon, citing multiple sources familiar with the deal. Axios reported in December that Amazon was in discussions with Sqrrl.
An Amazon spokeswoman declined to comment Tuesday evening but pointed to Sqrrl’s website, which was updated with a message confirming the deal.
“For now, it is business as usual at Sqrrl. We will continue to work with customers to provide advanced threat hunting capabilities. And, over time, we’ll work with AWS to do even more on your behalf,” Mark Terenzoni, CEO of Sqrrl, said in the message.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Amazon’s acquisition of Sqrrl comes roughly one month after the company scooped up Andover-based home security camera maker Blink in late December. The acquisitions are also happening as Amazon is considering Boston for its second headquarters. The company named the city as one of its 20 finalists last week after receiving 238 proposals.
Founded in 2012 by a team that included six former National Security Agency workers, Sqrrl provides software that can detect, investigate and visualize advanced cybersecurity threats in large sets of data. The company has raised a total of roughly $28.5 million from investors, most recently with a $12 million Series C round in June.

Sqrrl had approximately 50 employees as of June 2017, according to Boston Business Journal, and it was planning to reach 75 by the end of last year.
