More than a half dozen rabbits rescued from an area in Las Vegas have arrived in New England where they are recovering at an animal shelter.
The Animal Rescue League of New Hampshire said on their Facebook page that seven rabbits arrived "safe and sound" to their Bedford facility Saturday morning.
The Union Leader reported the 7 rabbits arrived in New Hampshire suffering with minor scabs from flea bites and permanent scars on their ears from fighting.
"Relief doesn’t even begin to express the way we feel to finally have the #NH7 with us now," read a partial statement on Facebook.
According to the Las Vegas rescue group Bunnies Matter, people have been dumping their unwanted pet bunnies outside a state mental health facility due to the number of wild bunnies already in the area. The group says because the animals have never been spayed or neutered, the estimated hundreds of female bunnies can have between 4 and 12 babies every 30 days.
Animal groups have been working to rescue rabbits from the area now dubbed "The Las Vegas Dumpsite."
In addition to the ARL of New Hampshire, shelters in other parts of the country, including Massachusetts and Connecticut, have stepped up to take rabbits in.

Officials with the ARL of New Hampshire said they were horrified to hear how the rabbits were being dumped but are grateful for the number of volunteers who have stepped up to help.
"Hearing the stories of the amazing volunteers who have made it their mission to rescue and re-home these forgotten Las Vegas rabbits, has surely been an emotional journey for us all," read a Facebook statement.
Once they are spayed, the rabbits named Odeletta, Zelenka, Birdie, Bluebell, Florence, Fontanne and Kelby, will all be put up for adoption.
