DA: Revere Police Officer Charged With Physical Abuse of 2 Children

Angela Halcovich is the second Revere police officer facing child abuse charges

A Revere, Massachusetts, police officer is facing multiple charges related to the alleged physical abuse of her two sons.

Angela Halcovich, 32, of Revere is charged with two counts of aggravated assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and two counts of assault and battery on a child for wantonly or recklessly allowing another person to commit assault and battery on a child.

She was arraigned Friday and bail was set at $2,500. A pre-trial hearing is scheduled for Feb. 24.

Halcovich filed a restraining order last week in Chelsea District Court against her boyfriend - Revere police detective Marcos Garcia of Saugus - saying he had physically abused her 5-year-old son and made threats against her.

Prosecutors said Halcovich told investigators that she beat one of her sons with a belt and she knew that Garcia was also beating her children.

She allegedly admitted to state police that she told her sons to lie about the beatings.

Garcia, 32, also faces child abuse charges after he allegedly handcuffed and whipped the 5-year-old with a belt because he would not eat his dinner. He was arrested on Jan. 14 and arraigned last week. He is currently free on bail.

Garcia allegedly told the boy and another child who was in the home at the time to say that he fell down the stairs.

The boy's injuries were discovered two weeks ago by a nurse at his school.
