Sailboat Struck by Lightning in Boston Harbor

No injuries reported

A sailboat was struck by lightning Friday afternoon as storms moved through the Boston area.

Fire crews arrived at an area in Boston Harbor near Castle Island at about 2 p.m.

Authorities said a fire department boat was already in the area and was able to quickly remove the nine people onboard safely before the United States Coast Guard arrived.

The lightning knocked out the radio on the sailboat, but a tugboat crew had seen the boat and notified fire officials.
