Saturday Showers, Mountain Snow on Sunday

Waves of rain move through Southern New England Saturday, with dry conditions in far Northern New England. With temperatures hovering near freezing in parts of Western and Central Massachusetts, as well as Southern Vermont, Southern New Hampshire and Southern Maine, there may be a few icy spots during the morning there.

Temperatures will be in the 30s and 40s, with the rain tapering off from west to east during the evening hours.

Skies will clear overnight, with patchy black ice developing as lows drop down into the 20s and 30s.

Sunday brings a return to sunshine for most, with a gusty northwest wind, but that wind will produce upslope snow showers in the mountains of Northern and Western New England. As many as 3-6” of snow will fall there. Highs again will be above average, in the 30s and 40s.

Monday is a quiet weather day with highs in the 20s and 30s.

Our next storm then moves in Monday night and Tuesday. While we likely start as snow, precipitation in Southern New England likely mixes with or changes to rain.

Because that storm will likely have at least some impact to travel, we have issued a First Alert for Tuesday.

A second batch of rain and snow showers likely come through on Wednesday before we dry out and cool off later in the week.
