Scattered Showers Continue Ahead of Late Week Clearing

Thunderstorms are slowly diminishing in intensity as they head east this evening.

Scattered showers move through New England from west to east, but across the mountains, we have more snow falling. These snow showers amount to 3-6 inches of accumulation through Wednesday morning across northern New Hampshire and Maine so watch for slick spots during the morning commute.

The rain showers taper off over southern New England overnight and we will see some clearing as lows drop to around 40 degrees.

High pressure builds in across the northeast late Wednesday into Thursday allowing for clearing skies and warming temperatures. Wednesday will be a complicated day with an inverted trough bringing a chance for a stray shower across eastern New England in the afternoon and evening after a sunny morning. Farther inland it will be a dry day, building clouds at least on the coast and some snow showers move in from the northeast across higher terrain in Maine and New Hampshire. We should be all dried out for Thursday as highs reach the low 50s.

It will be dry for the first half of Friday and warm into the low 60s thanks to a southerly wind. High pressure will settle itself to our southeast and this will keep a powerful storm system from moving directly over us Friday night. Rather, it will track into Canada and extend a few showers our way through Saturday morning.

Clearing skies are expected Saturday with highs in the low 70s! It will be dry beginning Sunday and temperatures will reach the low 60s before clouds roll in.

Sunday into Monday widespread rain looks to roll in. The forecast models from day to day are not consistent so we can't pinpoint timing or how much rainfall just yet. Plan on a showery day with colder than normal temperatures during the Boston Marathon. There is a chance the rain tapers off later in the day but highs only reach the low 50s. Drier weather returns after that.
