The Seattle Seahawks have claimed Josh Gordon off waivers, according to the NFL Network.
Ian Rapoport was the first to report the news on Friday afternoon.
The Patriots parted ways with the talented wide receiver earlier this week, releasing him after initially placing him on injured reserve. He was placed on injured reserve last week before the team's game against the Cleveland Browns. He had missed New England's Week 7 over the New York Jets with knee and ankle injuries.
NBC Sports Boston's Tom E. Curran reported this week that Gordon's dependability was again becoming an issue before his time with the Patriots ended. His production had also begun to slip.
Gordon was acquired by the Patriots in a trade with the Browns in September of 2018. He wound up playing a total of 17 games for the team, tallying 60 receptions for 1,007 yards and four touchdowns.
He was suspended indefinitely last December for violating the terms of a conditional reinstatment under the NFL drug policy, but was cleared to play again just prior to the start of this season.
Now that the Seahawks have claimed Gordon, they will inherit the final nine weeks of his contract, which amounts to just over $1 million. He will be a free agent at the end of the season.
