A crash that involved a moped and an SUV in Taunton, Massachusetts, led to serious injuries on Friday morning, according public safety officials and the state's department of transportation.
The Taunton Police Department said in a news release that it responded to the highway's interchange with Bay Street at around 6:30 a.m., where officers found that a moped and GMC Arcadia had crashed near the off-ramp.

The driver of the moped — identified as a 60-year-old man from Taunton —was taken to the BJ's parking lot nearby, where a medical helicopter picked him up to take him to a hospital.
The 47-year-old woman from Carver who was driving the Arcadia wasn't hurt.

The off-ramp had to be closed down following the wreck, and has since reopened.
An investigation is ongoing, and additional details about the circumstances surrounding the crash have not been released.
