Snow and Chilly Rain Return on Thursday

Enjoy sunshine and temperatures in the 50s on Wednesday, because less pleasant weather quickly returns on Thursday.

Clouds will thicken as early as tonight, with rain showers breaking out by morning from west to east.

While most of us will see chilly rain showers during the day on Thursday, with highs only in the 40s, some wet snowflakes will mix in at times.

Over the hills of central and western Massachusetts, southwestern New Hampshire, and northern New England, some communities will even see 1-3 inches of snow on non-paved, grassy surfaces.

Friday will still be mostly cloudy as the storm triggering this pulls away, with a few lingering light rain and snow showers. Highs will be closer to 50.

Total rainfall will likely be in the range of 0.25-0.75 inch for most, so renewed river flooding is not expected.

This weekend into early next week finally looks to feature more pleasant spring weather. Highs will reach the 50s and 60s with generally a good deal of sunshine.

We turn more unsettled again by the end of next week.
