New Hampshire Teacher Accused of Cutting Student's Hair Resigns

The teacher allegedly cut 3 inches off of the 13-year-old student's hair when she didn't comply with his request to stop playing with her hair in class.

A school official says a middle school teacher accused of cutting off several inches of a student's hair after telling her to stop playing with it has resigned.

Bob Gadomski, superintendent of the Somersworth school district, confirmed the resignation this week, Seacoastonline.com reports. He said the district has completed its investigation. He declined to comment further, saying it was a personnel issue.

The family's lawyer, Alfred Catalfo III, said the teacher allegedly cut 3 inches (.07 meters) off of the 13-year-old student's hair when she didn't comply with his request to stop playing with her hair in class. Catalfo said the student was sitting at the front of the class and wasn't being disruptive when it happened.

Catalfo said the teacher was the student's adviser in addition to being her math teacher. His name hasn't been released.
