Woman Found Dead at Springfield Home to Be Laid to Rest

One of the three women found dead at a Massachusetts home last month is being laid to rest this week.

Visiting hours for 27-year-old Kayla Escalante are scheduled for Wednesday at the Ratell Funeral Home in Springfield's Indian Orchard neighborhood.

A "celebration of her life" is scheduled for the same location on Thursday, followed by burial of her ashes at St. Aloysius Cemetery.

Escalante's death "was unforeseen and tragic," according to her obituary.

She is survived by a daughter, her parents, two brothers and a sister.

The body of the Ludlow woman was found May 31 at the Springfield home of Stewart Weldon.

Weldon is being held on $2 million bail on two separate kidnapping cases, but no one has been charged in connection with the discovery of the bodies.
