Steady Rain, Downpours Moving Into Region

Rain moves in across the region today as low pressure passes west of New England. Rain tapers off late this morning, followed by a lull in activity into the afternoon.

Rain moves back in towards the evening commute. Highs today reach into the mid to upper 50s. A cold front traverses the area tonight, bringing renewed rainfall. Lows drop into the low 50s south and mid-40s north.

A cold front passes offshore in the morning on Tuesday, followed by clearing skies on the heels of a drying air mass from the Ohio River Valley. Clouds may linger along southern New England as a wave of low pressure tries to develop along the departing cold front to our south.

Sea breezes develop during the day. Highs on Tuesday will reach around 70 degrees. An area of low pressure passes to our south on Wednesday. At this time, expecting bulk of rain to remain offshore with mostly sunny skies prevailing.

However, there is a chance that the storm shifts north slightly, which would result in an increase in rain during the day. Highs on Wednesday crest into the low 70s with an onshore flow keeping temperatures in the 60s at the coast.

Wet and cloudy weather moves in for Thursday as an area of low pressure develops south of great lakes. Highs only reach into the low to mid 60s. Another low pressure system develops south of New England on Friday and tracks very close to the cape and islands.

We’re expecting a rainy and cool day with highs in the mid-60s south and low 60s north. Looking ahead to Memorial Day weekend, high pressure will bring dry and pleasant weather to New England on Saturday with highs reaching into the upper 60s to low 70s.

Partly sunny skies prevail on Sunday with highs again rising to near 70 degrees, which is right around the climatological norm for late May. For the latest weather updates, stay tuned to NBC Boston and necn for the exclusive Early Warning Weather 10-Day Forecast.
