Pellet Gun-Firing Burglar Sought in Maynard Vandalism Incidents

Five Main Street businesses were vandalized with a BB or pellet gun and one had items stolen from it

A man firing a BB gun or pellet gun broke windows at a series of stores on Main Street in Maynard, Massachusetts, late Sunday or early Monday, and police are searching for the gunman.

The man created a mess at one restaurant and stole from a wizard-themed store, according to Maynard police.

The first reported act of vandalism came from a McDonald's just before 5 a.m., which had several windows broken by a BB or pellet gun, police said. It was broken into and the someone had made a mess inside by throwing things around.

While reviewing surveillance video of the incident, police were notified that Sugar Snap, a nearby business, has also been vandalized. When police arrived, several windows of that business had also been broken by a BB or pellet gun.

Authorities then discovered three more Main Street businesses had been hit.

Berkshire Hathaway Home Services and Main Street Liquors were both broken into and had their windows shot.

The husband and wife who own Oliver's Wands and Wizarding Wares said thousands of dollars worth of merchandise was taken from their store.

"If you wanted something, all you had to do was ask. You did not have to steal from us," said the owner who did not want to give her name. "When you stole from us, you stole from children and to me, that was - people call it karma, I call it fate. Fate will find you and you will pay the price."

Police are looking for a man in his 20s or 30s with a beard who was seen on the surveillance video at McDonald's. He was wearing a white hooded sweatshirt and white baseball hat during the time of the incident.

Anyone with information on the incidents or suspect is urged to contact the Maynard Police Department at 978-897-1011.
