Showers Followed by Warm Easter Sunday

After a cool start, temperatures will rebound back into the mid to upper 60s, even some areas stretching to 70 degrees in interior southern New England. For the late afternoon and into the early evening, we’ll see increasing cloud cover building in along with breezy conditions ahead of a warm front that will slide in overnight into Sunday.

Along and ahead of this warm front, showers will move in from west to east, starting just after dinner time tonight, with the heaviest rainfall reserved for northern New England, with scattered showers through the overnight into southern New England. After this warm front crosses the area, breezy southwest winds will usher in the surge of summer-like warmth for Easter Sunday with highs stretching into the lower 80s south, 70s north.

For our Easter Sunday, lingering showers are possible during the predawn hours, but most of the day will be dry with peeks of sunshine, so the Easter egg hunts during the late morning into the early afternoon are good to go. However, we could see more downpours developing yet again by dinner time ahead of a cold front. These will likely be quick moving and the rest of the evening will be drier and cooler.

Marathon Monday brings dry conditions back to the region under plenty of sunshine. Highs reach into the mid to upper 60s - great for spectators at the Boston Marathon but a little too warm for runners, so make sure to stay hydrated if you’re participating in this year’s race. After Monday, the rest of the 10-day returns back to near seasonable temperatures with highs into the mid to upper 50s and a few chances for rain, especially for Wednesday and Thursday.
