Sun-Filled Day Sets Stage for Chilly Night

The great news for New England is we have no major storm in the near future, so we have a chance to breathe and recover.

The impediment to restoring power to the hundreds of thousands still in the dark however, comes with a fresh southwest breeze that will gust to 30 mph – not enough to cause new damage and normally not all that noteworthy. But with power crews in bucket trucks trying to get the lights back on regionwide, the wind surely will slow down that process somewhat.

Last night wasn’t all that cold for New England, but today’s high temperatures of only 55-60 degrees under full sunshine sets the stage for a much colder night tonight, with lows dropping into the 30s for one and all, making for a frosty start Wednesday but also encouraging those without power and heat to find someplace warm for the night.

Clouds on Wednesday mark the start of a milder air moving in, but by Thursday and Friday, daytime temperatures climb into the 60s and near 70, respectively, with a chance of just a few showers each day.

Another shot of fall chill arrives for the weekend with enough dry air for sunshine Saturday and a returning chance of scattered showers Sunday into early next week as the temperature see-saw continues in our exclusive Early Warning Weather 10-day forecast.
