A beautiful stretch of winter weather will continue right into this weekend.
Widespread sunshine dominates the forecast not just Friday, but into Saturday and Sunday. All the while, temperatures will climb from the 30s on Friday, into the 40s and 50s for the weekend.
That includes Sunday afternoon for the Patriots game.
Even though the weather will continue to be tranquil, ice jams remain a problem in parts of Maine and Connecticut in particular. Flooding there will only slowly recede in the coming days.
Cooler weather briefly returns on Monday, with highs in the 30s and 40s. That cooler air will slide into New England behind a "backdoor" cold front that will move from Maine down into parts of southern New England.
"Backdoor" represents the front's westward movement, as opposed to the more usual eastward progression.
By Tuesday, warmer air already returns to New England. Highs will pop back into the 40s for many.
