Sunday Will Be Warmer Than Saturday

Saturday was the pick of the weekend around New England, with tons of sunshine and highs in the 50s to near 60. Winds were much lighter than Friday.

For those thinking about foliage, peak color is happening right now along the spine of the Green Mountains and in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont, Northern New Hampshire, and Northern Maine.

The weather was terrific to check that out, or pick apples at one of our local orchards.

Sunday will be a bit warmer thanks to a gusty southerly wind. Expect highs in the 60s.

High pressure will be pulling away though, so that means any early sun will fade behind increasing clouds. A few spotty showers are likely in Northern and Western New England by day’s end, but those will be few and far between.

We’ll warm up a bit more on Monday, reaching the low 70s in many spots, but only briefly. A cold front will be approaching with a band of heavy rain during the day. It will arrive first north and west, for areas like Vermont, and it will slide south and east with time.

It will still be clearly out on Tuesday, so even though we’ll have lingering clouds and a few showers early, sunshine will return with time. Temperatures on Tuesday will be in the 60s.

The mid-week forecast is a bit tricky. High pressure will try to build in from the north, but at the same time an area of low pressure may try to send some more showers north. We’ll have to see which of those two weather features wins out.
