Suspect Arrested in Nonfatal Boston Shooting

A man has been arrested in connection with a nonfatal shooting in Boston's Roxbury neighborhood.

According to police, they received a call for a person shot in the area of 56 Julian Street in Roxbury at about 2:15 p.m. Wednesday.

When officers arrived, they saw a male victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

The victim was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries, police said. The victim has since been upgraded to critical condition.

Homicide detectives investigating the scene arrested Cezar Mendes, 20, of Boston.

Mendes is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court for assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon.

The investigation is active and ongoing.
