Sutton Police Searching for Hit-and-Run Driver in Crash That Killed Runner

A homeowner discovered the victim's body in her front yard

Investigators in Massachusetts continue to search for a hit-and-run driver responsible for fatally hitting a jogger whose body was found in someone’s front yard Wednesday morning.

Police are searching for a white SUV with front-end damage on the passenger side in connection with the incident, which claimed the life Daniel De Lima, a 51-year-old psychotherapist who loved running.

Authorities said De Lima, of Millbury, was jogging in Sutton Wednesday when he was hit by a car that fled the scene.

A homeowner discovered the victim’s body in her front lawn on Singletary Avenue and called authorities at about 8:15 a.m., according to the Sutton Police Department. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The homeowner’s husband, Wilfred Tremblay, said his wife noticed debris and a sock in their driveaway at about 6:30 a.m., but she didn’t discover the grisly sight until she went outside at about 8 a.m. Tremblay said he and his wife estimate De Lima was thrown about 100 feet based on damage of a nearby telephone pole and a debris path.

De Lima’s devastated loved ones said he is "the most wonderful person we know." They said the victim had a passion for running and completed one of his life ambitions by participating in the Paris Marathon.

The victim worked as a psychotherapist and leaves behind a wife and young stepson.

After the body of a jogger was found on the lawn of a home Wednesday morning in Sutton, Massachusetts, authorities held a news conference to say they are searching for a white SUV in connection to the crash.
