Last month, we reported that one of the Cambridge locations of a local group of restaurants and bars may be replaced by a seafood spot. Now we have learned that the place is indeed getting ready to shut down for good.
According to a source, Tavern in the Square in Porter Square is closing at the end of business hours on Sunday, with a message sent from the spot confirming this. It appears that both locations of Tavern in the Square will actually be leaving Cambridge, as an earlier report mentioned that the Central Square outlet is slated to be replaced by a restaurant called 730 Tavern and Patio. Earlier, we had mentioned that Shaking Crab in Newton and Quincy may take over the Porter Square location of Tavern in the Square, but it is not known if this is definitely happening, so stay tuned for further updates.
It appears that all other locations of Tavern in the Square will remain in operation.
The address for the soon-to-close Tavern in the Square in Porter Square is 1815 Massachusetts Avenue, Cambridge, MA, 02140. The website for all locations can be found at http://taverninthesquare.com/
