5 Terrifying Moments From the Cape Cod Tornado

There was severe building damage, a waterspout, wild wind and flying debris

The EF-1 tornado and powerful winds that hit Cape Cod Tuesday wreaked havoc on communities, knocking down trees and wire, damaging property and, most dramatically, prying the roof off a motel.

Crews continue to work to clear the debris, secure downed wires and restore power to over 30,000 customers. As of Wednesday no injuries or deaths had been reported.

Here are some of the most terrifying moments from the severe weather.

Roof Torn Off Cape Sands Inn

In West Yarmouth, video captured the moment the roof was torn off the Cape Sands Inn. Megan McGuire, who was staying at the motel with her mother, said it "sounded almost like a locomotive, just for like a few seconds.

"As soon as it was over we looked outside and the building at the far end, the roof was just ripped off. The building is still standing but the roof is in the backyard now."
