Third Republican, Messner, Vying to Challenge Shaheen

A former U.S. Army ranger who founded a national law firm is the latest Republican vying to take on Democratic U.S. Sen. Jeanne Shaheen in New Hampshire.

Bryan "Corky" Messner, of Wolfeboro, announced his campaign in an online video Thursday. He says he wants to protect the American Dream by standing up to what he calls the "far-left policies of career politicians" like Shaheen.

After his military service, Messner founded the law firm Messner Reeves LLP, which employs more than 100 lawyers in nine cities. He describes himself as a strong conservative who will support President Donald Trump's policies.

Retired Brig. Gen. Don Bolduc and former New Hampshire House Speaker Bill O'Brien already are in the race. Trump's former campaign manager, Corey Lewandowski, also is considering a run.
