Threat of Thunderstorms Looms as Showers Make Way to Region

We start the day with a weak boundary across New England. It is a chilly 35-to-45 degree day in northern New Hampshire and much of Maine. The southern region is considerably warmer, where it's closer to 50 or 55 degrees.

We are not as sunny as Thursday, but we should have a few hours of sunshine. This is especially possible in Maine Friday morning and in southern New England in the afternoon. Light is crossing northern New England, north of the warm front from Vermont first, then New Hampshire and Maine.

A wave of low pressure ripples along the boundary Friday with the threat for showers and a thunderstorms along and south of the front in the afternoon. With a mixture of sun and clouds, the temperature in southern New England will get close to 70 degrees and it will be cooler north.

Evening showers and thunderstorm end by midnight, followed by a clearing late. Low temperature in the 30s and 40s north, 40s and 50s south.

High pressure from Canada brings plenty of sunshine for most of New England Saturday. The exception is near the Canadian border, where clouds linger. High temperatures will be in the 60s to low 70s,  and a breeze from the northwest will be stirring up a high pollen count.

Another front approaches from the west Sunday, with many clouds and a chance of a few showers and a thunderstorm. Most of the action probably stays in northern New England, with parts of southern and western New England getting close to 80 degrees by afternoon. Most of us are in the 70s.

Low pressure to our north on Monday generates wind from the southwest, importing air from where temperatures have been summer like the last several days. Most of New England should make it close to 80 degrees. If not, the dew point temperatures will approach 70 degrees.

There will be showers and thunderstorms scattered around. There may even be some strong to damaging storms if we get enough sunshine.

A front pushes offshore Monday night with more high pressure from Canada coming in Tuesday. That should return sunshine and lower humidity with temperature near 70 degrees.

The rest of the week looks similar with temperatures going up and down in the threat for showers and/or a thunderstorm every other day or so.
