3 Families Torn Apart by Deadly NH Crash

Three different families have been torn apart after a crash in Hampton Falls, New Hampshire over the weekend.

One of the victims is leaving behind two young boys with another on the way.

Now, Ashley Cote is trying to figure out how to explain to her children that their dad is gone.

"It's been really hard,” she told NBC10 Boston Monday.

She's still in shock. It’s only been one day since she learned that her boyfriend, 22-year-old Stephen Hansen was killed in a car crash over the weekend.

"I lost the love of my life, I lost everything, my children lost their father," Ashley said.

New Hampshire State Police say the crash happened at about 6:30 Saturday night, but because drivers couldn’t see the wreck through the thick brush, the victims weren’t found for almost 18 hours. It was about 11 a.m. Sunday morning when someone walking by called police.

Authorities say Stephen and his two friends, 18-year-old Sarah Frost, and her boyfriend 21-year-old Jacob Raymond, were pronounced dead at the scene.

We reached Sarah's aunt but she was too upset to talk on camera. She told us Sarah’s family was so proud of her. She had just graduated high school and was enjoying the summer with Jacob. Ashley has known Jacob for years.

"He was funny and he was really smart too, he knew everything about computers, I mean everything," she said.

Ashley says her group of friends will never be the same, but she's most worried about her family. She's heartbroken that her babies will grow up without their dad, but grateful to be able to see him in them every day.

"He looks like his daddy a lot," she said about her youngest, Isaac. “He’ll always be in our hearts no matter what.”

There were four people in the car at the time of the crash.

Dan Petruzzelli, 19, survived and is still in the hospital.

Authorities say the exact cause of the crash is still under investigation but right now, they believe excessive speed was likely a factor.
