Tractor Trailer Accident Causes Major Delays on Route 1

A jackknifed tractor trailer caused major traffic delays on Route 1 on Tuesday morning.

The accident occurred shortly before 10 a.m. on Route 1 south in Saugus, Massachusetts near the Lynnfield Tunnel.

Massachusetts State Police said the tractor trailer rolled onto the guardrail and was leaking fuel from its saddle tanks. A heavy duty tow truck was called in to remove the vehicle from the roadway.

State police said all of the southbound lanes and one northbound lane were shut down for about two hours. All lanes reopened around noon.
