Utility Workers Come to Aid of Toddler Wandering Monson Streets in Diaper

Two Comcast utility workers are being credited for coming to the aid of a toddler who was seen wandering the streets of Monson, Massachusetts, alone in a diaper on Thursday.

Police said the workers spotted the 2-year-old girl at about 2:30 p.m. walking along Main Street. The child was dressed in only a diaper in temperatures of 9 degrees.

As the child was attempting to cross Cushman Street, she fell into the road. The workers said they picked her up and brought her the nearby Woodbine Country Store to get warmed up and to wait for police to arrive.

Once police arrived, they were able to identify the child and her father.

The girl was then taken to Wing Hospital in Palmer for evaluation.

Police have not yet publicly identified the girl's father but said charges of reckless endangerment of a child are pending. DCF has also been notified.

"We commend these workers, who are also Monson residents, for their quick action leading to a positive outcome," read a statement from police on Facebook.
