Video of Child's Political Rant Prompts Investigation of Massachusetts Day Care

A day care and preschool in Natick, Massachusetts, is under investigation after a worker allegedly used Snapchat to share a video of children talking about Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton.

In part of the video, at least one of the children calls Clinton a "liar."

State officials have identified the day care as the Next Generation Children's Centers of Natick, which is licensed with the state, and they say an investigation is now underway.

"I think it's hilarious, I think people are blowing it out of proportion," said the father of the 18-year-old teacher, who necn has chosen not to identify at this time.

The man says his daughter didn't teach the children what to say and she didn't mean any harm.

"What I can tell you is the child who was speaking was taught that by his uncle," the man said.

Someone online sent the video to a reporter for the New York Daily News. It then spread quickly on social media, with people condemning the day care worker for sharing a video of children in her care.

"She's a balanced kid, she's a hard worker, and for this hatred people are spewing, it's definitely not warranted," the father said.

In a statement to necn, Kristen Hopton, Next Generation's regional vice president, called the incident "inappropriate."

"We have policies that prohibit the use of personal cell phones and personal video taking. We follow our protocol should these policies be broken and are currently completing our internal investigation and will take appropriate actions with the teacher who posted this video on social media," the statement read.

Kathleen Hart of the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care told necn the agency "has strict regulations regarding privacy of children and conduct of educators in licensed programs."

"We will take action as necessary against the program and any involved staff as warranted by the outcome of our investigation," Hart added.

"She just thought it was funny, thought it was cute," the teacher's father reiterated. "It's a little kid running around saying Hillary's a liar."

The family of the teacher says she's on paid leave for now.
