A fire captain in Wakefield, Massachusetts was placed on paid administrative leave Monday after more than 20 years on the job.
Captain Christopher Smith is facing two counts of indecent assault and battery on a person over the age of 14 years old, according to the Middlesex County District Attorney's Office.
The details of Smith's case are not known at this time.
Police have not identified a victim.
Wakefield fire department Chief Michael Sullivan, said in a statement released Monday, that Captain Smith was placed on paid administrative after the Wakefield fire department was notified by the Wakefield police department of an alleged incident that occurred when Captain Smith was not on duty.
Smith, a 22-year-veteran of the Wakefield Fire Department, will remain on leave as the department investigates the allegations.
Smith is scheduled to be arraigned in Malden District Court on Wednesday.
