Warm, Muggy and Potentially Soggy Monday to Follow Weekend Scorcher

We won't see the heat Monday that we have experienced over the last three days

It was another scorcher across the region Sunday. The high temperature in Hartford reached 100° for the first time since 2012! Other areas fell short of that mark, but mid to upper 90s were plentiful across central and southern New England.

High temperatures in northern New England ranged from the 70s into the 80s. Eastern and northern Maine were hit hard by morning thunderstorms producing damaging winds and hail the size of ping pong balls!

Monday is going to be warm and muggy, but we won’t see the heat we experienced over the last three days. Showers and thunderstorms will roll in during the afternoon. Thunderstorms will tap into the tropical and produce some heavy downpours.

It’s possible that one or two storm could produce strong wind gusts, that potential will exist into Tuesday as well. When all is said and done, 1-2”+ of rain is possible in central and southern New England. There is a risk of some localized flash flooding.

Wednesday our weather will improve dramatically! The sun will return and temperatures will be comfortably around 80°. Each day of the week will get gradually warmer and by the weekend temperatures will be in the mid 80s.

Another push of heat is possible by the following week. It looks like it won’t be as extreme as this last round, but a few 90°+ temperatures are possible. Stay tuned!
