Emergency crews are working to contain a water main break at a high traffic intersection in Lowell, Massachusetts.
The break occurred shortly after noon on Wednesday at the Lord Overpass, which intersects Thorndike, Appleton, Middlesex, and Chelmsford streets. The incident has severely backed traffic in the area.
Police say a construction crew working in the roadway severed the water main.
Traffic in the downtown area of Lowell has been severely tied up as a result of the water main break.
