Weekend Starts Sunny, Ends with Showers

The best weather day of the three day holiday weekend is today, with ample sunshine and temperatures in the 70s to near 80 degrees. Humidity will be low and comfortable thanks to a northwest wind.

Skies stay mostly clear tonight with a crisp feel to the air. Lows will drop into the 50s and 60s, with a few 40s in far Northern New England. Keep an eye out for the Northern Lights, which may dance across the sky in far Northern Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine.

Sunday won’t be a bad day by any means, but sunshine will fade behind more clouds. Winds will also turn onshore, meaning the cool seabreeze will keep coastal temperatures in the 60s to near 70. Inland we’ll reach the mid 70s.

Monday brings even more clouds, and a touch of humidity. Bands of rain, even some embedded thunderstorms, will move through Northern and Western New England. Closer to Boston we’ll also have a lot of clouds ,but just a few spot showers. Same deal for the Cape and Islands—a mainly dry day with some breaks of sun and just a spot shower here or there. Temperatures will primarily be in the 70s.

Tuesday is back to sunshine and temperatures near 80. You’ll still feel a touch of humidity.

We’re in the 80s by Wednesday just before a cold front nears. That front will likely spark some downpours or storms during the day, before we return to refreshing and cooler air with sunshine late week.

Next weekend turns tricky. Dorian, or its remnants, may move close enough to bring some rain to New England. So much depends on the storm’s track though, so specifics will need to be worked out in the coming days.
