Happenings in Dorchester Labor Day Weekend

Eat:
In celebration of National Eat Outside Day on August 31st, we put together a list of some of our favorite Dot restaurants with outdoor dining spaces. Grab a friend or two and spend the afternoon soaking up the sunshine.

Drink:
As summer draws to a close, head to Yellow Door for their frozen sangria! It’s housemade sangria blended to perfection! While you’re there, you might as well get the chips and guacamole, right?

Shop:
Converse is celebrating this new opening during the first two weekends of September with promotions and customization specials.  Kicking off over Labor Day Weekend, consumers will receive a free backpack with each purchase of $75 or more on a first come, first serve basis. The next weekend, from September 7- 9, Converse is hosting a Chuck Taylor customization event filled with giveaways, food, and music between 12:00 – 5:00 PM.

Bowl:
Bowling and School Supplies! Head to Boston Bowl on Labor Day weekend and the first 100 kid bowlers will get a “Back to School” kit with a paid game of bowling! September 1st, 2nd and 3rd!

See:
Feel like getting lost in some fog? Take a trip to Franklin Park and check out Called Fog x FLO: Fujiko Nakaya on the Emerald Necklace. This new installation is made up of “fog sculptures” and will be on display in five parks including Back Bay Fens, Olmsted Park, Jamaica Pond, the Arnold Arboretum, and Franklin Park. Responding to climate, these sculptures will release soft clouds of fog from dawn to dusk through October 31st and will change shapes based on wind patterns, humidity, temperature, and gravity! Cool!

Do:
It’s Prehistoric Dino Day at the Franklin Park Zoo! They’re going out with a big bang, as Destination Dino at Franklin Park Zoo comes to an end. Join us on Saturday, September 1, for dinosaur facts, crafts, and more as we celebrate all things prehistoric! Don’t miss your chance to hear from zookeepers, as they highlight a few of the Zoo’s animals that may even be related to our dino friends.

Volunteer:
The Martin Richard Foundation is looking for volunteers to help them with their MR8 Run for Gratitude on Monday – September 3, 2018, 9 am. For more information on volunteering or running the race, visit here!
