A Massachusetts woman charged with driving drunk and causing a crash that killed a man described as a "pillar of the community" has pleaded not guilty.
Cindy Bliss, of West Brookfield, was held on $20,000 bail Tuesday after her arraignment on charges including motor vehicle homicide while intoxicated.

Police say the 54-year-old Bliss was speeding when she ran a stop sign and struck a vehicle operated by 78-year-old Alexander Cordy in West Brookfield on Monday. Cordy died at the hospital.
Police say Bliss had an open vodka bottle in her pocket.

The police chief called Cordy a "pillar of the community," active in church and the Knights of Columbus.
Bliss' husband says his wife suffers from seizures and may have had a medical episode. He apologized to the victim's family.
