What Do Dads Want for Father's Day?

The answer is simpler - and cheaper - than you might think

Father's Day spending is expected to reach near-record levels this year, according to the National Retail Federation, but, what does dad actually want?

All dads really want is some "me time," according to a Groupon survey.

Groupon surveyed 700 fathers and the results show dads want on average 11 hours of alone time per week, which is equal to about 24 days a year.

What are they going to use that "me time" for?

The survey lists seeing a movie, watching sports, playing golf, eating a steak or going to a concert.

The survey also found that 60-percent of the dads surveyed have a "man cave" where they can relax.

But if you're like most Americans, you're determined to find that special gift for your dad.

Of those who plan to shop for their father, 40-percent will shop at a department store while 34-percent will shop online.

On average, Americans will spend about $133 on dad.

Overall, spending this Father's Day is expected to total $15.3 billion, second only to last year's $15.5 billion, which was the highest in the 15-year history of the NRF survey.
