Wind Damage Biggest Threat as Storms Pop Up in New England

Hot, humid weather will continue to dominate our weather for the rest of the week, and part of the weekend.

Highs on Thursday will surge into the 80s and 90s across the area, but that is also paired with humidity that is in the oppressive category. At times it will feel like 100 as a result.

Very much like past days, there will be a few pop-up downpours and storms during the day, particularly during the afternoon north and west of Boston. Locally heavy rain and isolated wind damage are the biggest threats.

A severe thunderstorm warning was issued parts of Connecticut and Massachusetts.

Friday will still be very humid with highs in the 80s. Downpours and storms will be more widespread, meaning more of us will see a period of rain, but it still is far from a washout. The risk of a storm is still highest north and west, and lowest for somewhere like Cape Cod and the Islands.

We’re still warm and humid on Saturday, and again, more storms will develop. This will still likely be the hit and miss variety, but it may briefly interrupt your plans and force you inside.

Rain chances diminish on Sunday, and it will be a touch less humid. It’s still certainly muggy, but not quite as oppressive. Highs will remain in the 80s to near 90. Because of all of that, Sunday is right now the pick of the weekend.

Early next week still looks drier overall, but still above average with pop up storms and downpours. The risk of rain on any given day, however, is lower than the rain chances we’ve had for the past two weeks.
