PD: Woman Left 3-Month-Old in Car Outside Twin River Casino in Rhode Island

Halston A. Borglund, 26, of Cape Cod, is charged with cruelty or neglect of a child

A Massachusetts woman is facing child neglect charges after she allegedly left a 3-month-old in a car parked outside Twin River Casino in Lincoln, Rhode Island.

Police said Halston A. Borglund, 26, of Cape Cod, is charged with cruelty or neglect of a child.

According to WJAR, an officer working a detail at the casino was alerted that a child had been left alone inside a parked car around 10 a.m. Tuesday. The officer located a car in the lot that had been left running, with its window down. He found a baby covered by a blanket in the back seat.

Emergency personnel were called to the scene, at which time the infant's mother came out of the casino. She told police she had only left the baby to retrieve her keys from inside the casino.

But police said further investigation showed that she had been inside the casino since for over 90 minutes.

The baby was taken to Hasbro Children's Hospital in Providence and is listed in fair condition.

The Rhode Island Department of Children, Youth and Families has taken custody of the child.
