A 54-year-old woman died after firefighters pulled her from a burning two-family home in Quincy, Massachusetts on Sunday morning, fire officials said.
Quincy Fire Department officials report that firefighters responded to the home at 292 Harvard St. at 12:24 a.m. There were three people in the house at the time.
Two residents on the second floor got out safely, but firefighters rescued the first-floor resident, Cindy Sullivan. She was found unconscious with severe burns. Rescue workers used CPR to try to revive Sullivan but she did not survive.
She was taken to a Bringham & Women's Hospital for treatment and reportedly died from both smoke inhalation and burns.
A dog also perished in the fire.
The origin and cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Office of the State Marshal and Norfolk District Attorney's office, but authorities do not believe it to be suspicious.
