Woman Killed in 2-Vehicle Crash on I-495 in Norton Identified

The woman killed in a two-vehicle crash that shut down Interstate 495 in Norton, Massachusetts, over the weekend has been identified.

The crash Saturday night caused one vehicle to veer off the northbound side of the roadway and strike a tree.

As a result of the crash, 49-nine-year-old Angela Fernandes, of Taunton, a passenger in one of the vehicles, was killed, according to police.

The driver, a 46-year-old Taunton man, was taken to Rhode Island Hospital by helicopter with life-threatening injuries, state police said.

The driver of the other vehicle, a 22-year-old man from Middleborough, was not hurt.

The crash closed the highway in both directions for a short period of time.

The exact cause of the crash remains under investigation.
